2017 Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide
Harley’s 2017 Wide Glide model ups the ante in the fat tire department. And I like it. It has a wider rear tire than the rest of the Dyna Glide series with a 21 inch front wheel. It’s the sort of look that gives you the impression that there will be little chance of the rear end kicking out without good warning.
Lest I mislead you, the wide tires are not the reason it’s called Wide Glide. It’s the front forks. The wide front forks gives the Wide Glide it’s unmistakable look. A head on view of those wide forks straddling the front tire isn’t something you will forget. And, did I say? We like it. A lot. I forgot to mention that the front tire looks skinny compared to the forks, but in a good way.
The longer front forks remind me of the choppers of years past and suggest that tight turns are not what this bike does best. If short turns are your thing, maybe you better look elsewhere. But if the open road and highways are your domain, the Wide Glide will be right up your alley.
It’s my guess the most will be attracted to the Wide Glide’s looks. And they will buy it, because of the looks. But you won’t be disappointed by the power ant the handling unless your idea of fun is driving around the orange cones at a test track. This bike was meant for the road.
