The Harley Owners Group in India has organized the largest gathering of Harley-Davidson bikers to commemorate H.O.G.’s fifth anniversary. They are expecting around 3,000 H.O.G. members from 26 chapters across India to attend the event in Goa. The H.O.G. motorcycle rally will be held on February 16 and 17, 2017 along a scenic route by the bay, where comedy-rock band Vir Das’ Alien Chutney will give a live performance and a custom motorcycle zone will also be allocated.
What is the 2017 H.O.G. Rally going to be?
Harley Owners Group members are encouraged to display their customization skills throughout the annual H.O.G. contest in order to translate their vision of individuality. Bikers from all over India will compete for the grand prize, which is to win tickets to the 77th Annual 2017 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally by showcasing their one-of-a-kind Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Last year’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally had Devendra Chugh as a special guest.
The coveted BIG FIVE
The Harley Owners Group in India conducts five H.O.G. rallies there every year. They are divided into four zonal rallies and one main event – the national H.O.G. rally. They are as follows:
Northern H.O.G. Rally (N.H.R.)
Eastern H.O.G. Rally (E.H.R.)
Western H.O.G. Rally (W.H.R.)
Southern H.O.G. Rally (S.H.R.) and
National rally – H.O.G. India Rally
By attending all 5 Marquee events in the same year a rider will then earn the most coveted patch in the H.O.G. club – the ‘BIG FIVE.’ The BIG 5 insignia indicates that the biker who earned it has traveled thousands of kilometers across the country to show their passion for motorcycling. So far around 300 members have successfully completed the BIG FIVE (130 of which have only gotten their patch in the year 2017) and to think that there are 12,000 H.O.G members in India. It will take a long time for them to get the BIG 5 patch on their leather jackets, but commending over 100 H.O.G. members each year is a very good sign even for an organization this large!
